Maddie Minogue

Marketing Manager

Having been with VP Engineering from 2015-2018, Maddie rejoined the team as the Marketing Manager after a company-wide restructuring in 2020. In this role, she oversees all marketing initiatives, website and social media management, and firm communications, adding her creativity to a very technical industry. She also puts her creative touch on all event planning for the firm, including teambuilding, holiday, and client events.

With a BA in Corporate Communications from Elon University, Maddie has been in the Marketing industry for 15 years and the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (A/E/C) industry specifically for close to 7 years. In addition to engineering, she also has industry experience in general contracting. As an adjunct to her role, Maddie also plays an instrumental role in the numerous community service projects VP Engineering participates in throughout the year.

Why VP?

Even before I began working at VP Engineering, it felt like family to me because my sister Katie is on the team! I joined Katie and the team for many lunches and frequently dropped by the office to visit while I was working at other companies. After joining in 2015, I was proud to officially join the “family”. While engineering is an industry that requires precision and follows many rules, I love that my role allows me to pursue creativity and think outside of the box. Our leadership is open to new ideas and experiences and together we have learned that change can be a positive thing.

Favorite VP Service Project?

I don’t have one service project in particular – however, I am immensely proud of the charity campaign that we completed together as a team in 2023. For VP’s twentieth year in business, all employees worked together to complete 20 charity events. #TwentyGoodDeedsforTwentyGreatYears was a huge success and allowed all employees (local and remote) to participate!
Since COVID, my family and I have become too reliant on DoorDash. Our favorites are Que Onda, and Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar. Anything tasty and gluten free as I am allergic to gluten! If I actually put on real clothes and go out to eat, we love The Workman’s Friend, Seaboard in Matthews, and Burton’s.
I married a Manchester United fan. Therefore, go red devils!
I have the hidden talent of making others uncomfortable with very aggressive hugs and telling them I love them.
Ireland! My husband is from Greystones in County Wicklow, Ireland. It’s on the Irish Sea and it’s where we got married. I’m lucky to call it my second home.
Sadly, no. We recently lost my beloved Wally, our Golden Retriever. I got him right out of college, and he was with me through it all! Once our two boys get a little bigger, we’ll consider getting another dog.

Favorite VP Service Project?

ROC Center. It was a new facility in Charlotte that was a partnership between Goodwill and CPCC that provided a technical/trade school for those who would like to be electricians, HVAC technicians, etc. It was a neat project to be a part of because of the mission of the Owners and Operators to provide affordable training for those that wanted to learn.

Why VP?

VP has been a place where I have been able to learn and grow in my profession. New ideas are always welcome. The company was a small group of engineers when I started, and I have been able to be part of the growth process and help it become the company it is now …. that is continuing to grow! After being with VP for 16 years now, it’s safe to say that many of us have literally grown up together. Not only in age and life experiences but also in business growth and advancement opportunities. There are not many companies that create an environment where you not only enjoy what you do but who you work with!

Favorite VP Service Project?

I really enjoyed serving at a men’s recovery center and working with Beds for Kids. Seeing the impact furniture, that is usually taken for granted, can make on someone’s life was very humbling. Helping others alongside coworkers is a bonding experience that carries into how you work together professionally.

Carolina Panthers – and UNC Charlotte 49ers (since my son just started there).
Being the oldest of 6 kids, I am the “go to” for most problems. I can go from giving advice on things from car repairs to reasons for a baby's fever. I’ve also been told I’m good at laughing at everyone’s jokes.
I didn’t start really traveling until my thirties. I can’t say that I have a favorite, yet, but I’m excited to figure it out!

Why VP?

The people. The people. The people. From the start the people here at VP have been what sets us apart. To be a good engineer or designer and to do good design work is baseline here. You also need to go past that and embody our core values. All of us working together as a single unit, towards the same end goals is what makes us a great company and a true joy to be around everyone.

Favorite VP Service Project?

Two really stand out to me. Cleaning Sedgefield Middle School – I attended that school as a young child many years ago and it was so nice to go back and visit. Also, it was nice to help spruce it back up! Our yearly Christmas gift donations to a family in need. Specifically, the one we did in 2023. The family was so appreciative and their children are wonderful!
Soul Gastrolounge. I know it’s been closed for a while, but they have a food truck and I’m still counting it. They are supposed to open this year and I can’t wait!
Carolina Panthers, are there other teams in the world?
I can’t sing. Seriously I can’t, I’m horrible at it. Don’t even ask me to draw anything either. You will only get stick figures. If you ask my children, my hidden talent is being mean to them.
Anywhere with my family, well until the children start complaining and then my wife and I want to take them back home! Kidding. If it’s the beach – Caribbean (I’ll take any island!) If it’s not the beach, I like to visit new places. Two bucket list locations are Australia and New Zealand.
No pets!
I’ve been forced into the world of coffee because everyone that cares for me doesn’t want me drinking energy drinks anymore. I don’t have a favorite coffee, or I can’t even claim to know how to order them correctly. I drink it very plain, no sugar, no milk, just plain! Oh and I don’t like hot drinks, so I usually put it over ice.

Freddo Espresso. Basically, it’s an iced espresso. But you don’t just dump the espresso on ice. This destroys the coffee’s taste. For a Freddo Espresso, you blend (or shake) one to three cubes of ice and a sweetener with 2-4 shots of espresso to cool it down. Then you pour this over a cup or glass of ice. You drink it with a straw. (Pro tip: Add milk froth to make it a Freddo Cappuccino.
